This large-scale project, situated on an allocated housing site, will provide 74 high-quality affordable homes designed to meet the needs of the local community. The development aligns with the established masterplan for the wider area, ensuring a cohesive and well-integrated neighbourhood. The design promotes strong connections with the existing urban fabric and includes publicly useable open spaces and carefully considered landscaping to enhance community wellbeing.
The development had to work within the framework, design principles, and strategic approach of a larger wide-scale masterplan adopted by the local authority, ensuring consistency with broader planning objectives.
The scheme offers a diverse mix of homes, including single and two-storey semi-detached and terraced dwellings. The accommodation caters to a range of household needs, providing general needs housing alongside amenity housing for older residents and those with additional mobility requirements.
The architectural approach prioritised high-quality, sustainable design, energy efficiency and modern construction techniques and thoughtful layout to encourage a strong sense of community.
A key feature of the development is the inclusion of generous green spaces and high-quality landscaping. Publicly accessible open spaces create opportunities for social interaction, recreation, and biodiversity enhancement. Native planting and well-designed pathways contribute to a welcoming and environmentally conscious development.
This project represents a significant investment in affordable housing for Eastriggs, ensuring long-term benefits for residents. The homes are designed with sustainability in mind, incorporating energy-efficient measures to reduce running costs for tenants while promoting low-carbon living. The integration of public spaces and pedestrian-friendly design encourages a safe, attractive, and inclusive environment.
Our design-led approach ensures a high-quality, well-connected, and sustainable neighbourhood which is intended to provide much needed affordable housing in the town. The development is currently on site and due for completion later in 2025.
