The project involved the design and delivery of a leisure facility on the shoreline of the west coast of Scotland to the South of Girvan. The client had earlier engaged our service to provide storage unit and wished to create a leisure facility to enhance their existing leisure business located on the site.
A dramatic shorefront location dictated that the design be orientated to make the most of view with large glazed areas facing towards the sea. This affords a disappearing horizon over to Ailsa Craig and beyond. The glazed apertures can be opened, allowing visitors to exit and relax on steamers situated on external decking for refreshments following treatment sessions.
We worked closely with the client to ensure that they were able to provide a comprehensive briefing document and our designs were conveyed using 3D Modelling to ensure that they understood the massing and composition of buildings on what is a site of natural beauty, referred to as a “Scenic Area” within the South Ayrshire Council Local Plan.
The accommodation comprises a leisure pool with whirlpool spa, steam room, sauna, state of the art fitness suite, therapy rooms together with reception, bistro, office, changing facilities, staff accommodation and plant room. These are located within a low level grouping of buildings finished with traditional materials.
A high level of specification was sought by the client, with quality fixtures and fittings carefully selected to create a high end, relaxing atmosphere for discerning members who can enjoy a range marine based treatments and personal fitness sessions from professionally trained staff.
The facility has been very successful since its launch and our client very pleased with how the building is currently performing. The high number of repeat visitors and ever increasing membership supports this. Recent TripAdvisor comments have included,
I have visited here on several occasions – I can honestly say it’s a lovely place, facilities are great, and the views are stunning.
