Gretna Masterplan

Our architectural practice developed a comprehensive masterplan for 185 affordable homes across a series of allocated sites in Gretna, South of Scotland. To be delivered in four phases, the masterplan was carefully structured around key framework design principles, ensuring a well-connected, sustainable, and high-quality living environment.

The design strategy considered developable areas, diverse house types, connectivity, public transport integration, active travel routes, open space and public realm, sustainable drainage (SuDS), and infrastructure. The phasing approach enabled a coordinated delivery, with Phases 1 & 2—comprising 90 affordable homes—successfully completed. The masterplan supports a vibrant and inclusive community, fostering placemaking, accessibility, and long-term resilience.
