Located at King George V Sports Complex, this purpose-built facility addresses a critical gap in Scotland’s indoor tennis provision. The design incorporates three acrylic-surfaced courts under a clear-span structure, ensuring optimal playing conditions and unobstructed sightlines. A raised viewing gallery enhances spectator experience, while accessible changing rooms and a welcoming reception area reflect the project’s commitment to inclusivity.
Generous circulation spaces, step-free access, and gender-neutral facilities make the centre accessible to all users. The building’s layout supports coaching programmes and regional tournaments, reinforcing its role as a social and sporting hub.
Delivered by local contractor Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd, the £2.36 million project was funded through a partnership between the LTA, Tennis Scotland, sportscotland, Dumfries & Galloway Council, and the Holywood Trust. This centre demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform local sports infrastructure, providing a sustainable, all-weather venue that encourages participation and active lifestyles.
