Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) granted full Planning Permission for 160 new affordable homes at Melbost West, located to the east of Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides.
This major, phased development will deliver a diverse mix of house types and sizes, supporting households from 2 to 7 people in attractive, energy‑efficient homes designed for comfort and ease of heating.
Across the four phases, the masterplan includes:
– Landscaped amenity gardens
– A generous play area
– Strengthened pedestrian connections between Sandwick and Stornoway
Achieving this positive outcome has been a highly collaborative process. We worked closely with Hebridean Housing Partnership, Clancy Consulting, Wild Surveys, and Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar Planning Team to secure full consent in line with Hebridean Housing Partnership’s development programme and target dates.
A significant milestone for the area, and we’re proud to have played a role in supporting the delivery of much‑needed new homes for the community.
This project also strengthens Robert Potter and Partners architectural footprint in Stornoway, with the new masterplanned development sitting close to our recently completed Goathill Care Campus masterplan, visible to the northwest in the aerial image.
