We provided architectural services for this affordable housing development for Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP) which provides a mixture of mainstream general needs houses and flats for rent at Palmerston View, Dumfries.
The site was a long-standing vacant brownfield site on Lochfield Road and adjacent to Queen of the South arena and Palmerston Park football ground located in an urban residential area.
The works comprised the construction of 16 No. new dwellings in total – 4 new dwelling houses and 12 No. flatted dwellings.
The dwelling types consisted of two ‘gold standard’, 2 storey high, semi-detached buildings, two ‘silver standard’, 2 storey high, semi-detached buildings and three ‘bronze standard’, 2 storey high, four in a block, flatted buildings, entire site infrastructure, access road and formation of car parking, footpath improvements, drainage, ground works and landscaping.
The project ensured this site was developed as safe, pleasant and welcoming development that related and connected well with the surrounding area demonstrating a clear physical regeneration to the area.
The designs fully complied with the requirements of Housing for Varying Needs. The development was the first scheme to receive Secured by Design – Gold Level Accreditation in Dumfries & Galloway.
