New Development to Brownfield Gap Site Proposed
14 April 2026
We are pleased to have submitted an application for Planning Permission on behalf of Wheatley Group for a small affordable housing development in the village of Glenluce, Dumfries & Galloway.
Occupying a prominent gap site on Main Street, the new short terrace helps restore the village’s urban edge, replacing the former Glenbay House Hotel. The proposal delivers eight affordable apartments, carefully designed to sit comfortably within the traditional streetscape while meeting contemporary living standards.
Materials have been chosen for durability and context, including smooth render, natural roof slates, and painted composite doors, alongside roof‑mounted solar panels.
To the rear, a generous shared garden will be enhanced by wildflower meadow planting, mown routes and strategic tree planting. Addressing challenging site conditions, the scheme also carefully responds to identified ground contamination through appropriate remediation measures.
