This dementia care home for the City of Edinburgh Council provides accommodation for 60 residents in four clusters of 15.
At the heart of the plan is a safe dementia-friendly garden, with southerly views over a new public park to a mature tree belt, taking advantage of sunlight and setting to promote a feeling of well-being.
The bedrooms incorporate SMART technology which can be tailored to the needs of each resident. This includes movement detection / fall monitoring and automatic lighting.
Bariatric care was also provided for with enhanced door widths and carefully-selected sanitaryware and support rails.
The sustainable energy strategy includes two combined heat and power (CHP) units.
